From the Author of Do Princesses Wear Hiking Boots
Carmela LaVigna Coyle
Carmela LaVigna Coyle is the award-winning and bestselling children's book author of the Do Princesses Wear Hiking Boots? 11-book series; The Tumbleweed Came Back; Wild Zoo Train; plus more! Her latest picture book, Something Spectacular, A Rock’s Journey, takes children along on a multi-million year tour through time, earthquakes, erosion, volcanic eruptions, and ice ages all to discover how a massive rock becomes an extraordinary stone you can hold in your hand! Carmela has a degree in Elem. Ed and Art. She is a former PreK and K teacher.
Throughout Carmela’s writing career she has been a guest speaker at numerous grade school and library events, and has sat on author panels at book festivals and conferences. She is a member of SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators) where she has also been a mentor for several years. She occasionally writes reviews for New York Journal of Books. And every February she reads to children across the globe for World Read Aloud Day via Zoom.
She’s married, and is the mom of two (grown) kids...and one pup. Her deepest wish is for her books to inspire children to look for the magic in nature, and also within themselves. When Carmela is not in her writing room, she can be found reading, dabbling in watercolors, inventing something tasty in the kitchen, meditating/doing yoga, or walking beneath a canopy of cottonwoods near her home in Colorado.
