Maharishi tells us that art is the expression of life. Geometry gives knowledge of the abstract properties of the shapes and forms we find in the life around us.

Geometry in Art: Being Becoming

Discover the beauty of geometric constructions found in art with Dr. Catherine Gorini.

When artists go deep into themselves to create, they naturally create images using the abstractions of geometry. In this course, we will look at how artists use lines and curves to give dynamism to images. We will see how artists us congruence and similarity to create unity in a work of art. Artists use bilateral symmetry to create balance and harmony. Topology is the most abstract area of geometry, and we’ll see how topology frees artists from the boundaries of the relative.

Students who are artists will have opportunities to use what they learn in this course to create their own works. Art is the expression of life. Geometry gives knowledge of the abstract properties of the shapes and forms we find in our lives. In this course, students will see how artists use geometry in their work.
