Presentations - A Design and Communications Workshop - Conscious Computing Basics

Increase your computer literacy and refine your capacity as a visual storyteller using presentation software.

During these four live sessions you will be guided through activities and exercises that build skills and essential understanding of design software.

In this hands-on environment you will build the technical skills, and gain the computing basics that can help you grow confidently and consciously in your communications.

From navigating menus and programs, to saving, sharing and collaborating, this course takes no small skill for granted.

With downloadable glossaries, tips and guides every course participant will receive resources to reference and keep. Session recordings will be accessible for six months after the course. Course participants also receive a bonus half hour of personalized troubleshooting with their instructor. Scheduling begins after the last live session.

Artists, researchers, entrepreneurs, students and anyone interested in creating presentations of any kind will benefit from this thoughtful introduction to designs that inspire.

Led by Mariette Papic, this course provides real world examples from presentations designed in collaboration with other MUE instructors. These behind-the-scenes design stories will help illustrate the unique communications challenges and surprising opportunities we all face when designing for the enrichment of others.

Why should I take this course?

Do you have a project you might like to realize? Is there a photo book, pitch deck or social media content you might envision? Whatever your visual storytelling goals, this course offers essential foundations.

Many of us learn to perform tasks on computers before we understand their workings. With little to no formal training we often find ourselves lacking in the language and foundations that provide us with the computing confidence we desire.

Beginners - Our computing basics workshop is an experience of confidence building exercises and is perfect for workplace beginners or to refresh your business  skills.
• Intermediate - This workshop is a chance to refresh skills, engage in lively conversations, and refine best practices in your presentations.
• Consciousness-based course design  – The consciousness-based approach to computer design provides us with self-awareness, helping us make healthier and more inspired choices that help us communicate our message effectively  to diverse audiences.
