Conscious Computing Basics Workshop
Elevate your computing skills and optimize workflow in a nurturing hands-on environment. Use your full self to approach today's computing systems, growing confidently and consciously over four sessions. In each 90-minute session guided activities and in-class exercises will build skills and essential understanding.

Create
We will build practical skills for our daily use, improving our understanding of file creation, storage, organization, and sharing. We will define and automate tasks involved in creating new documents and presentations, examining the role of styles and types of formatting. -
Establish New Habits
In every workshop session we will cover tips for staying comfortable and healthy, improving our productivity, and guarding our online privacy. We will explore easy time management and useful tools that can be used for little to no cost. -
Increase Efficiency
We will learn how to use and apply styles, and how to use keyboard and software shortcuts. Together we will explore preferences and settings, identifying opportunities available for customizing toolbars, and utilizing productivity features in our emails, documents, web browsers, and other programs.

Many of us learn to perform tasks on computers before we understand their workings. With little to no formal training we often find ourselves lacking in the language and foundations that provide us with the computing confidence we desire.

• Intermediate - For intermediate users this workshop is a chance to enhance your workflow, engage in lively conversations, and share your experiences with others.
• Non-native English speakers – MUE Computing Basics is an introduction to common business computing terminology, providing opportunities to practice with native English speakers.
• All women interested in ease in computing –The consciousness-based approach to computing provides us with self-awareness, helping us make healthier and more efficient choices.
Mariette Papic
Mariette brings 20+ years of computing experience to this workshop. As a core member of the MUE staff many of you know Mariette's work as a designer and producer of popular consciousness-based courses, including The Journey of Enlightenment with Ann Purcell and Writing from Within with Elizabeth Taggart. As a technologist and artist Mariette has conducted workshops for universities, corporations and in her personalized coaching services.
As a writer Mariette has focused on the intersection of emergent technologies and their role in the arts. She has had her essays and interviews published by museums, galleries, and in periodicals. This includes her essay The Ache of the Real, published in Pantheon NYC (MoMA NYC/Chashama Arts). Her poem, In the Cradle Sits a Blanket, was commissioned for textile artist Robin Kang’s exhibit, “Skywoman's Secret Circuit, (Outlet, Brooklyn). Mariette's published interviews include conversations with sound artist, David Linton, Co-founder at The Mission for Temporal Art, and Swoon, the internationally acclaimed artist. Her review of the documentary, Sisters with Transistors, a 2020 film by Lisa Rovner, appears in Sound Collector Audio Review, Edition 7.
Mariette trained at the International Center for Photography, New York Film Academy, and with the documentary photographer Mary Ellen Mark. She has conducted workshops for at-risk youth through Leave Out Violence, US. and in the Republic of Mali, as part of Andy Lin's OtherWorlds project, assisting the Ciwarra school to develop a photography program for their indigenous-language pedagogy, which reaches over 200 satellite programs throughout the Sahel.
Mariette is a Core Steward of the Design Science Studio community, an educational incubator fiscally sponsored by the Buckminster Fuller Institute, and a lead trainer of their AI model, gAIa. Mariette serves as the Director of Outreach, Information and Inspiration for Maharishi University of Enlightenment.
